Maryam Bukar Hassan Joined Woman Post for Supporting Afghanistan Women
Maryam Hassan Boukar, a Nigerian poet and social activist, joined the "Women Post" movement after receiving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Award in 2024. This global campaign, which advocates for women’s rights, particularly on behalf of Afghan women, is driven by Afghan youth. So far, it has successfully united over 50 prominent figures, global leaders, artists, and athletes to fight for gender equality and defend the rights of Afghan women.
Given the extensive challenges women and girls face in Afghanistan, the goal of the "Women Post" movement is to raise global awareness and apply pressure on international institutions to support Afghan women’s rights. Ms. Boukar’s decision to join this advocacy campaign after winning the United Nations SDG Award amplifies the voices of Afghan women and draws greater global attention to their struggles and efforts.
